Back the underdogs at WTA Indian Wells

To my own surprise, I found out that, 14 out of the 32 matches played in the second round of the WTA Indian Wells were won by underdogs. Moreover, 9 of those 14 matches were some major upsets and the winners could be backed at odds above 3.00. The biggest surprises were produced by the seeded players as follows:
Pavlyuchenkova defeated Jankovic in straight sets 64 64 and could be backed at odds above 6, Barois defeated Cornet 62 62 at odds above 5, Llagostera Vives defeated Cibulkova 76 60 at odds above 6, Radwanska defeated Kuznetsova in 3 sets and could be backed at odds above 5, and the biggest upset was Elena Dementieva’s early exit as the top seed Russian lost to Czech player Petra Cetkovska in 3 sets. The Czech player could be backed at huge odds of 9 or above.

In case you consider placing some small stake bets on this year’s edition of WTA Indian Wells, I would strongly suggest you to back several underdogs. Here are my own recommended single bets for the second round of WTA Indian Wells:

Polona Hercog to beat Marion Bartoli at odds above 3.50. The young Slovene is on a good run while the French player doesn’t seem to regain her past form.

Tamarine Tanasugarn to beat Arevane Rezai at odds above 3.00. I took her at odds of 3.15 at my local bookie. The Thailandese player is in good shape while Rezai hasn’t played her best tennis for some time. They also met once at Wimbledon, in 2006, when Tanasugarn won in straight sets 63 60.

Anna Chakvetadze to beat Agnieszka Radwanska at odds above 4. The main reason for this bet is the history of their head-to-head matches. The Russian player leads 2-1.

Kimiko Date to beat Francesca Schiavone at odds above 3. The Japanese player is the oldest player on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour but she has registered wins against top players. She managed to beat Nadia Petrova in the first round at Sidney this year.

Olga Govortsova to beat Elena Dementieva at odds above 7. Sometimes history repeats itself in tennis, too. Dementieva lost here in second round last year. The young and talented player from Belarus might produce a major upset here.
