Premier League betting: Sunderland vs West Brom

In-form West Bromwich Albion will visit out-of-form Sunderland on Saturday, 9 April, on Stadium of Light in a decisive match for the relegation fight in the English Premier League.

Betting on in-form teams proved to be a successful recipe for many punters and West Brom looks like a good betting opportunity this weekend.

The Baggies are on a hot run since Roy Hodgson took over as they have managed to stay unbeaten in their last five games. West Bromwich Albion have registered 3 draws and 2 wins during this great run of results. The last three games played by the Baggies under Hodgson are relevant for the obvious progress in their game. They won 3:1 away at Birmingham; they surprised everyone with a high-scoring home draw against Arsenal and finally came back from 1-0 down to overcome Liverpool 2:1 in the previous round at The Hawthorns.

On the other hand, Sunderland suffered a crushing defeat 5-0 away to Manchester City in the previous round and has lost 6 out of their last 7 matches. Their manager Steve Bruce has already admitted his team having the worst spell of the season, as he put it, and needs to do some changes if he wants to avoid relegation.

Another statistic to consider when you fancy betting on this event is West Brom’s scoring records. The Baggies have scored at least one goal in every league match they played under Roy Hodgson. This game should make no exception and West Brom certainly have the ability to score against a team which has conceded lots of goals lately.

In the league tables West Bromwich Albion are only four points above the relegation zone with 36 points but a win here would secure their survival in the Premier League.

Sunderland will be without two key players, injured Titus Bramble and Fraizer Campbell. Graham Dorrans is likely to miss the match for West Brom.

Recommended betting

Betting on West Brom to continue their good run under Hodgson should be a good betting option.

Betting on West Brom to win away at odds around 3.50 or higher could be very lucrative.

A much safer bet would be the double chance betting option. West Brom to win or draw at odds around 1.70 could prove to be a very good bet.
